Abstract

Education is the most essential component of life that can enhance individual success. Education is very important and mandatory for children who are in the scope of compulsory education. But not all compulsory education children can attend education, one of the contributing factors is the problem of education costs. The Smart Indonesia Program (PIP) is assistance in the form of cash and learning opportunities from the government given to students who come from poor or vulnerable families to finance education. One of the schools that was given the Smart Indonesia Program (PIP) is Senior High School 1 Kebun Tebu, West Lampung.

The decision tree algorithm is a classification algorithm that works based on information theory, one of which is the C4.5 algorithm. The application of this study uses student data at Senior High School 1 Kebun Tebu in 2019-2020 with the attributes of the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP), Social Protection Card (KPS), father's occupation, father's income, mother's occupation and mother's income. The classification technique uses the C4.5 algorithm which is applied to the WEKA 3.9 application. From the calculation results of the classification evaluation, the C4.5 algorithm has a fairly good performance in terms of accuracy, which is  83.91%, so that the C4.5 algorithm is recommended to determine the eligibility of students receiving the Smart Indonesia Program (PIP). The results of this study are to produce a pattern of eligibility for the recipients of the Smart Indonesia Program (PIP).
