Abstract
This study is aimed at investigating transitivity properties (processes, participants, and circumstances) of news report on Covid-19 of Jakarta Post press. It further explored how the writer encodes experiential meaning in the texts. This study draws on Systemic Functional Linguistic (SFL) theory. The data for the study consisted of five randomly selected topics from Jakarta Post press, a daily English language in Indonesia. The data were gathered through a library study. These data were qualitatively analzed using Halliday (1994) and Halliday & Matthiessen (2014) theory. The results showed that all of proceess types were found in the texts, namely material process, mental process, verbal process, behavioral process, and relational process. Besides, material process was used dominantly. The implication of this study were also elaborated.
