Abstract

Covid-19 pandemic has transformed teachers’ way of teaching. Teaching and learning process that is usually done in the classroom has to be conducted by implementing a distant learning process. Technology plays a vital part in the process of teaching during pandemic because it enables teachers and students to still conduct the meeting without having to meet directly in the classroom since it’s forbidden to do. This research aims to explore teachers’ experiences in shifting their way of teaching by utilizing several ICT tools to support teaching and learning process during pandemic. Using case study, the researchers investigated 10 teachers from different education levels in several schools in Indonesia who experienced some changes in their teaching practice during pandemic. Questionnaire and interview were implemented to gain the data related to teaching employment. The results show that many teachers needed to learn more about current technology to support their teaching process since government obliged the schools to have distant learning. Various learning applications were also used to promote teachers and students achieve the learning goals as well as to keep students’ learning motivation. Although many challenges and problems appeared during the process of teaching and learning, teachers were expected to be able to manage it well. With a lot of limitations of online learning during pandemic, it is hoped that government can make it as input and consideration to develop ICT tools to support the educational progress in the future.
