Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia has caused various phenomena in various fields, from health, economy, social, and cultural to linguistic areas. An interesting linguistic phenomenon to study is how intense news on Indonesia's online media uses foreign terms in bahasa Indonesia. This phenomenon is called indoglish. In Sociolinguistic, this phenomenon categorizes as the code-mixing event. This paper aims to determine the background of the code-mixing event in Covid-19 reporting on online media. Besides, this paper also describes indoglish as a violation of the applicable language regulations and provides the correct equivalent of words, phrases, clauses in bahasa Indonesia. This research uses content analysis with a descriptive qualitative method. Indoglish phenomenon in reporting Covid-19 in online media is motivated by limitations on using the code, more widespread use of terms, and prestige factor. An indoglish phenomenon is also a form of violation of the applicable language regulations.
