Abstract

Gastro Tourism Academy is a training and learning center for Ecology courses in an open area which is mahogany ecotourism with potential food commodities typical of Tasikmalaya Regency with course content: Eco-Gastronomy (Start From Food System), Life Sciences and Ethnobotany, Traditional Agriculture, and Organizing Gardening and Cooking Workshops as well as processing forest and garden products. The duration of this outdoor class course is two hours accompanied by three tutors (Gastronomist, Food Historian, and Lifestyle Health Promotor).

This study aims to create a learning process and outdoor classroom opportunities in the human ecology sector at the Gastro Tourism Academy, Tasikmalaya by applying the combined method of SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review) and PQRST (Preview, Question, Read, State, and Test) in the open for participants who are interested in participating in this outdoor course. Evaluation analysis is carried out by looking at the results of the SQ3R and PQRST methods: Deductive, Inductive, and Evaluative before and during the Pandemic.

The research results show deductively that participants can translate general messages into specific messages that are specific and directed. Inductively, participants have a grasp of individual phenomena during an outdoor classroom course that leads to the creation. Evaluatively, participants who have the initiative to think creatively in each given segment and can elaborate them into solutions to ecological problems which hopefully can be applied. Before the pandemic the impact felt from activities outside the classroom, this course honed the motoric skills of dexterity in outdoor areas with a large number of participants, during a pandemic, participants consisted of a Health protocol in tourism places where no crowding and formation. Even in a pandemic situation, activities outside the classroom are of course much in demand, especially those with family and parents who are exploring Eco-Gastronomy and increasingly motivated to maintain the sustainability of the earth.
