Abstract


Mastering English is a key to support Indonesian Government's Target, having a Global Village, which the end of it is having an equal position among Indonesian and other countries. English is used as a tool to communicate among global people and it carries power diplomacy in global relationship. That standard is started by having a good Basic English usage starting from the beginning, composing text. Composing text is an obvious task for the university students in any department nowadays in English Subject. Composing text is an unseparated part from English subject in higher education level in Indonesia. According to our experience as English Lecturers, students’ composition is sometimes constructed by some mistakes syntactically. While in the other hand, syntactical usage is a basic knowledge in using English even for other skills. This study is aimed to know students’ syntactical error reflected by their composition with certain topic and requirement along their study of Writing Comprehension in a semester. This study starts by giving a task to the students to compose a text in a specific topic and requirement. Students’ composition will be collected and analyzed using syntactical pattern according to theory of Politzer and Ramirez. This study uses qualitative research with the participants taken from the freshmen in Universitas Putra Indonesia Cianjur.
