Abstract
MMORPGs (massively multi-player online role-playing games) have been rampaging through our world ever since a long time ago, especially with the rise of World of Warcraft in the early 2000’s. Final Fantasy XIV is currently one of the most popular MMORPGs in the world, with more than 35 million players subscribed to the game. A big part of why it is successful lies in its amazing story, including the story of the latest Endwalker expansion. This paper will discuss how a prominent character called Hydaelyn, is able to show that being a hero does not require one to be a male or to be a tomboy, but that a feminine hero who stays strong and true to her gentle but also firm character can also be a heroine of the world, saving it from the doom that only she herself can do. This notion will be supported with 3rd wave feminism theories which will show how her actions and appearance can show how a woman can also be a hero who everyone respects.
