Abstract
This study aims to determine the possible effectiveness of peer re-view techniques to improve the writing skills of junior high school students.This study uses a quantitative quasi experimental method. The participants are 30 junior high school students of class VII SMPN 1 Labuapi West Lombok. They are randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups. The experimental group uses a peer review technique, while the control group uses a self review technique where students are asked to write descriptive texts based on the topics given by the teacher. The experiment is carried out for two months. Data is collected using pre-test and post-test for writing skills. The results shows that the p-score is 0.000 <0.05, so Ho was rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that there is a difference between the pre-test and posttest scores. it can be seen that the t-count statistic is -6.202 which means the pre-test value is smaller than the post-test with a point value of 6.202. This shows that the writing ability of students in the experimental group increased more than those in the control group. Also, those who engage in peer review methods to write more and enjoy writing. It concludes that peer review increased students' writing skill.
