Abstract
Student problems in learning can be influenced by several factors. One of them is the spread of the covid-19 pandemic throughout the world which affects the learning situation in the classroom that students must face. This study aims to find out the problems of students when participating in the Speaking for Discussion course in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. This study involved 39 students as research subjects. The data was obtained from distributing questionnaires to students which were collected via google form. The data were then analyzed using simple descriptive statistics. The findings indicate that students have internal and external problems related to the course. In terms of internal problems, students feel afraid to make mistakes, lack confidence and feel ashamed. In addition, things such as internet connection, supporting devices, and time constraints were the first three external problems that they experienced during their Speaking Class for Discussion. It is suggested for the speaking skill teacher to analyze the possible problems that the students might face before the class starts.
