Abstract
This study aims to determine: (1) the strategies used by teachers in teaching English. (2) students' perceptions of the strategies used by the teacher in teaching English. Data collection was carried out in June 2022 from 1 class consisting of 30 class XI students at SMK N 2 Bandar Lampung.This study uses a descriptive qualitative research design, the instruments used are observation checklists and questionnaires. The observation checklist was distributed to class XI teachers at SMK N 2 Bandar Lampung, then questionnaires were distributed to 30 students in class XI at SMK N 2 Bandar Lampung.Reading comprehension is a process of constructing meaning that involves written language by interpreting textual information based on previous knowledge and experience using appropriate and efficient comprehension strategies. The findings of this study indicate that teachers use two strategies in teaching English, namely Reciprocal Teaching and Question Answer Relationship (QAR). Students' perceptions of the two methods are easier to understand, can express and change opinions, get new ideas, can motivate them to think in groups, and students can get used to practicing speaking by giving questions and answers. and finally concluded how the students' perceptions of the teacher's strategy.
