Abstract

Today, means of transportation cannot be separated from daily needs, one of which is a vehicle. The most popular vehicles in Indonesia are motorcycles. Affordable prices and fuel economy are the reasons that are often used in the use of motorcycles. In addition, as a means of transportation, motorcycles are also vehicles that are time efficient and fast. With the increasing number of motorcycle users on the road, it can be seen immediately that motorcycles have filled the streets of big cities in Indonesia.

The greater the number of motorized vehicles, the greater the crime rate against motorcycle users. Many cases of theft occur because it is easy for thieves to break into the security system of motorcycle vehicles. There are various types of factors that can affect such as environmental safety, vehicle security system itself, and negligence of the owner. During the pandemic, criminals took advantage of the situation when all parties focused on handling the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia, which had an impact on all lines of Indonesian people's lives. In this study, a SIMGSM-based motorcycle safety device system was developed with a remote as its control and aims to secure motorcycle vehicles from a distance using the engineering design method.

Bandar Lampung City is an area that has the highest number of criminal cases of motorcycle theft in Lampung Province. The expected result of the research is a tool that is made to be useful and used by the community.
