Abstract
Students must have good character as a reflection of the nation's generation. It is not easy for teachers to instill character education for students so that to improve the character of students who have been tainted by the impact of technology, it is necessary to apply the right strategy as a solution to the crisis in value education. This research is a descriptive qualitative research or literature review. Data collection based on analysis of primary library sources. The results of this study illustrate that social media as an example of an online application of technological developments is a challenge for teachers in overcoming the impact that occurs on the character education of students in elementary schools. Students will find it easier to be influenced by the impact of social media compared to adults who can think carefully. Sites that appear on social media often feature images, sentences, or content that is not fully adapted to the user's age. Giving understanding and raising awareness to students and providing examples of effective use of social media can be done in schools as a place to cultivate values in fulfilling character building. Teachers must also be able to train students to apply these values so that they can protect themselves from actions that can harm them. Students with good character can be formed through knowing moral knowledge, moral training, and moral behaving by implementing the values in school life.
