Transitivity Analysis on Soleimani’s Assassination Issues in Al Jazeera and New York Post Editorials

Abstract


This study aim to define the frequent process and the ideational meaning that representSoleimani based on transitivity component found in Al-Jazeera and New York Posteditorials. Hence, the researcher uses qualitative research to define and describing eachclause written.The data were six editorials from each newspapers. Furthermore, Al Jazeeraand New York post has different resulted in process and participant component, but it hassimilarities in the circusmtance element. In Al Jazeera editorials, the most dominantprocess is relational attribute within 45.5% occurence and attach with 22.2% of carrier andattribute. These editorials emerge the used of relational attribute process to ascribesomething and give clear information related to something that being described. Asmention the way they describe Soleimani based on their standard. Meanwhile, in New YorkPost editorials, the most dominant process is material process within 48.1% occurence andattach with 24% actor and 20.3% goal as dominant participants. These editorials engagethe used of material process to express what the writter want to deliver through the actionor a situation that happend. The actor frequently signifies Soleimani and Trump as thesubject in the clause written. Then, circusmtance types, that is location which Al Jazeerahas 56.2% occurence while New York Post has 73.6% occurence. These appears to giveclear information in both editorials where the process takes place. By learning transitivityanalysis, the reader tend to familliar with the language that used to deliver certain figure,especially in editorials that deals with arguement and perception.
