Abstract

In the learning process, children are not encouraged to develop thinking skills, therefore there is a need for efforts to improve the quality of education. Efforts to improve the quality of education, especially for mathematics subjects, have been carried out because many sciences are dependent on mathematics. Mathematics lessons given in schools play an important role in shaping intellectual candidates to think critically, analytically, logically, creatively and systematically. Mathematics learning in schools must be adapted to the development of students, because there is a relationship between students' thinking abilities and the teaching and learning process. The purpose of this study was to determine the comparison of online mathematics learning and offline mathematics learning on the mathematics learning outcomes of seventh grade students of MTs Guppi Pagar Alam. This research is a type of quantitative approach research. This research is quantitative in nature, namely the data obtained are analyzed by statistical formulas to obtain conclusions. The population in this study was the seventh grade students of MTs Guppi Pagar Alam for the academic year 2020/2021, totaling 189 students. The sampling technique is by using a sampling technique. The sampling technique used is "Simple Random Sampling" or the taking of sample members from the population is done randomly without regard to the existing strata in the population. Based on this technique, the sample in this study will be taken from two classes of randomly selected population. The first class is class VII1 as an experimental class using online mathematics learning and the second class, namely class VII2 is a control class with offline mathematics learning. Before conducting the test, the researcher conducted a trial of the instrument. The instrument trial was carried out in class VII3 MTs GUPPI Pagar Alam with a total of 47 students.
