Abstract
Delineating Bourgeoisie Hero in Robin Hood (2018) Movie This study aims to find the bourgeoisie issue in Robin Hood (2018) Movie. This movie delineates the bourgeoisie and proletariat, which are often defined as a social class structure. These two classes are often described as the rich and the poor. Furthermore, the writer dismantles the portrayal of bourgeoisie and proletariat toward this study to see its construction. This study applied Marxist theory, and the analysis used Barthes’s semiotic theory and cinematography. Moreover, the study applied the descriptive qualitative method. The finding and analysis reveal hidden meaning within the movie, and the producer attempts to convince the audience. By finding the denotation and connotation, the writer discovered that Robin Hood keeps his role the hidden meaning of bourgeoisie and proletariat inside the movie. Robin emerges as a hero and a former member of the upper class and assists them in fighting back against the ruling class who has reaped everything from them. Thus, he also becomes the epitome of proletariat rebellion. His consciousness of the condition of the people forces Robin to do such double identities.
