Most of us might remember several names like Superman, Batman, Captain America, Thor, are the major recognizable characters. Catwoman, Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel are some other names that you may recognize. Even Though there are a lot of Superhero movies where women play lead roles, their presence in leading parts appears to be the start of a movement to reduce portrayal of conventional gender roles. However, by the end of the film, the female protagonist is forced to submit to patriarchal social order's supremacy. This article focuses on the male-dominated capitalist authority of the Hollywood film industry's conscious hypocrisy, which serves as a barrier to achieving gender equality in gender roles, particularly in Superhero films. The article itself, using representation theories from Stuart Hall and Barthes Semiotic to uncover the codes and signs, refers to the issues using superhero movies from DCU and MCU as object materials.
