Indonesian Students’ Perspective: Technology in Virtual Learning of Higher Education amid Lockdown Covid-19 Pandemic

Abstract


The Covid-19 pandemic, which forces education in Indonesia to change the system to online or virtual learning, certainly has its own challenges. The teachers and students must look for appropriate learning methods and media in the midst of a pandemic. Technology is one of the main problems in virtual learning. The purpose of this research is to find out the effectiveness of virtual learning, to find out the obstacles and technology problems experienced by Indonesian students during virtual learning. Descriptive qualitative method with a questionnaire research instrument was used in this study. Questionnaire is used to reach a wider range of respondents easily. In this study, the questionnaire used was adapted from Adnan and Anwar (2020) combine with Agung at all (2020). There are 13 questions related to virtual learning that must be answered by the respondents.  The results of this study indicate that 53.6% of the total respondents, who filled in, there are 110 Indonesian students from various backgrounds, stated that the main problem in virtual learning is because of an unstable internet connection. In addition, the selection of instructional media is also an obstacle for students with inadequate electronic facilities. With this research, it is hoped that teachers, students and parties concerned can find solutions to overcome technology problems to support virtual learning systems.
